Polyester Modification

Compared with natural fibers, polyester has the disadvantages of low moisture content, poor air permeability, poor dyeability, easy pilling and fuzzing, and easy staining. In order to improve these shortcomings, chemical modification and physical deformation methods are adopted. The chemical modification methods are:

① The monomer or oligomer polyethylene glycol with hydrophilic group is added for copolymerization, which can improve the moisture absorption rate of the fiber;

②Adding monomers with antistatic properties for copolymerization can improve the antistatic and anti-staining properties of the fiber;

③Add compounds containing phosphorus, halogen and antimony to improve the fiber's combustion resistance;

④ Use polyester spinning with a lower degree of polymerization to improve the anti-pilling ability;

⑤ Copolymerize with dye-philic group monomers (such as sulfonate, etc.) to improve the dyeing performance of the fiber.

Physically deformed are various profiled polyesters, composite spinning with other polymers, colored polyesters, fine-denier polyesters and high-shrinkage polyesters.
